Accreditation Criteria for Individuals

The International Coaching and Counseling Association (ICCA) is committed to maintaining the highest standards in the coaching profession. Below are the accreditation criteria you must meet:

Recognition of ECP

Holders of ECP (European Certificate of Psychotherapy, awarded by the European Association of Psychotherapy) are automatically awarded accreditation as Certified Master Coach.

Educational Requirements

Minimum Education Level:

A licence diploma or equivalent is required. Higher education degrees in related fields (psychology, counseling, human resources, etc.) are preferred but not mandatory.

Coaching Training Program:

For Certified Asociate Coach: Completion of a coaching training program approved by ICCA, totaling a minimum of 60 hours of theory and practical applications, 30 hours of personal development and 45 hours of supervision by an experienced coach. The training program should cover essential coaching competencies, ethics, and foundational coaching techniques. Supervision should focus on developing coaching skills and ethical practice.

Our Certified Associate Coach (CAC) accreditation is designed for those beginning their coaching journey, validating their foundational coaching skills and knowledge.

For Certified Professional Coach: Completion of a coaching training program approved by ICCA, totaling a minimum of 120 hours of theory and practical applications, 60 hours of personal development and 60 hours of supervision by a master coach.

For experienced coaches, this accreditation recognizes advanced skills and a deeper understanding of coaching methodologies.

For Certified Master Coach: Completion of a coaching training program approved by ICCA, totaling a minimum of 200 hours of theory and practical applications, 100 hours of personal development and 100 hours of supervision by a master coach.

For senior coaches with extensive experience, this accreditation demonstrates mastery and leadership in the coaching field.

Experience Requirements

For Certified Associate Coach: A minimum of 100 hours of coaching experience. This experience should be documented and verifiable.

For Certified Professional Coach: A minimum of 200 hours of coaching experience. This experience should be documented and verifiable.

For Certified Master Coach: A minimum of 300 hours of coaching experience. This experience should be documented and verifiable.

Ethical Standards

Commitment to adhere to the ICCA Code of Ethics. Applicants must read, understand, and agree to uphold ethical guidelines in all coaching practices.

Personal Development

Reflective Practice: Completion of a reflective practice journal documenting personal insights and learning from coaching experiences. This journal should cover at least 10 coaching sessions.

Application Process

Application Form:

Complete and submit the application form along with all required documentation, including training certificates, coaching logs, and reflective practice journal.

Application Fee:

Payment of the non-refundable application fee of 250 Euro.

Review and Evaluation

Initial Review:

ICCA will conduct an initial review of your application to ensure all required documentation is complete.

Competency Evaluation:

An ICCA assessor will evaluate your reflective practice journal to assess your coaching competencies and adherence to ethical standards.

Final Decision

Accreditation Decision:

Upon successful completion of the review and evaluation process, you will be awarded the accreditation. In case of any deficiencies, you will receive feedback and may be required to complete additional training or supervision.

Maintaining Accreditation

Continuous Professional Development:

To maintain your accreditation, you must engage in continuous professional development, including at least 20 hours of coaching-related training or practice every two years.

Renewal Process:

Submit evidence of continuous professional development and pay the renewal fee as specified by ICCA every two years.
